Preventative Care consists of routine screenings, check-ups, and patient counseling to prevent illnesses, chronic disease and other health problems
Its important because it can help detect illness at an early stage when treatment is likely to work best
You and your family benefit from a better quality of life if an illness is detected early
All preventative services do not require an authorization for screenings or check-ups. Talk to your doctor for more information
Taking care of your preventative health can help avoid unnecessary visits to the emergency room
Most preventative care screenings are a standard benefit and are at no cost to you
Screenings are medical tests done to check for diseases and health conditions before there are any signs or symptoms
There are three main ways to screen for Cervical Cancer:
The human papillomavirus (HPV) test checks cells for infection with high-risk HPV types that can cause cervical cancer.
The Pap test (also called a Pap smear or cervical cytology) collects cervical cells so they can be checked for changes caused by HPV that may—if left untreated—turn into cervical cancer.
The HPV/Pap cotest uses an HPV test and Pap test together to check for both high-risk HPV and cervical cell changes.
Whether a woman should be screened for breast cancer and the screening test to use depends on certain factors.
Women ages 50–74 years should see there doctors about the importance of Breast Cancer Screenings.
Mammography is the most common screening test for breast cancer.
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) may be used to screen women who have a high risk of breast cancer.
What is a well-care visit? A well-care visit is a provider visit for your baby, child, teen, or young adult. During these visits, the provider will assess growth and development, and evaluate milestones, social behaviors, and learning.

Measuring your blood pressure is the only way to know whether you have high blood pressure. High blood pressure usually has no warning signs or symptoms, and many people do not know they have it. Measure your blood pressure regularly to help your doctor diagnose any health problems early.
Among diabetic patients, a Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) level greater than 9.0% indicates poor control of diabetes. Poor control of diabetes is a risk factor for complications, including renal failure, blindness, and neurologic damage.
